Churches, welfare organisations and social work
The focus on human rights is central to the self-conception of churches, welfare organisations and social institutions.
As they clearly position themselves in favour of an open and united society and, e.g., support refugees as part of their daily work, representatives of these institutions repeatedly become the targets of extreme right-wing, racist and right-wing populist hostility.
Furthermore, these types of anti-minority attitudes and behaviours sometimes even exist among their own members, staff or clients.
The MBR supports churches, welfare organisation and their member associations as well as various social institutions and social workers in their interactions with right-wing extremism, right-wing populism, racism and anti-Semitism.
MBR consultations in these fields may focus on:
- Support of institutions and advice on how to deal with hostility and attacks perpetrated by right-wing extremists and right-wing populists.
- Advice for professionals in dealing with extreme right-wing orientations among clients, colleagues or volunteers
- Qualification of employees on how to deal with racist and anti-minority statements in their everyday work as well as support in the development of democratic guiding principles.
